How did you hear about "NDAO-i-Travel"?

Enjoy the discovery of the incredible
beaches of Nosy Be

These little pieces of paradise with pearly white sand and turquoise blue sea, transparent as gin, create terrific places to experience the island's charm. They are ideal for swimming and water sports, with magnificent sunsets, like of paradisaical postcards. There can be very fun night life is also good - it's no surprise that more and more visitors come to Nosy Be as an excellent alternative to the expensive Mauritius.

Andilana - far and away Nosy Be’s best beach. It lies on the north-west of the island at the end of the north-south road, which is lined with sugar cane plantations. It is a small piece of paradise: is a long stretch of pearly white sand, protected bay, shallow swimmable turquoise blue water that’s true turquoise and clear as gin, as far as you can see! The white sandy beach is being reborn as a tourist resort, but further inland, where lines of houses dot a pretty landscape, an atmosphere of honest simplicity remains strong. It’s ideal for swimming and chilling for an afternoon, with gorgeous sunsets. Andilana ignites on Sundays, when French expats and Malagasy from around Nosy Be come for a lazy day in the sun. Families lay out picnics on a shaded bit of sand, tuck into a crate of beers, turn on their stereo, and swim and dance until the sun goes down.

Ambatoloaka it is Nosy Be’s southernmost beach and is one most touristy. Ambatoloaka which may once have been a rustic fishing village, is nowadays the epicenter of Madagascar's fledgling tourism industry. It is snazzy small town, stretched along one long street, with most of the hotels, bars and restaurants clustered at the beach end. The beach itself, which becomes Madirokely beach at its northern end, is pretty, but the constant flow of touts, diving boats coming in and out, and noise from seafront establishments. The town seems stuck in a time warp with small boys running after tourists along in the shallows with models of boats made from any waste they can find and lots of elderly “Vazahas” hand in hand with beautiful Malagasy young women.

2 km long Madirokely beach is popular among tourists sipping rum at the many bars and restaurants that turn the place into one of the liveliest place on the island in matters nightlife. Madirokely can be fun: the nightlife is good by Madagascar standards, and the village comes into its own on Sundays when locals come en masse to enjoy a day at the beach.

Ambondrona Bay - this small and typical Malagasy village lies just next to the tourist center of Ambatoloaka. It stretches from Madirokely to Andilana in the north. Despite to its next-door location, few visitors use to come here, which makes it a fabulous place to experience the island’s charms in a quieter environment without having to renounce completely to the advantages of the developed tourist infrastructure of Ambatoloaka. The further north you go, the more isolated and quieter it gets. With its lovely beaches and postcard sunset views, it's no surprise most hotels on Nosy Be have decided to set up shop on this part of the island. But if you yearn for company, you’ll be happier in Ambatoloaka or Hell-Ville.
