The raid is approx. 350km long. It is on average 70km per day. The track is from a beginner (a sand) to an initiated level (mud, rocks, dirt). This track fits for experienced drivers, but even beginners can still come. The machines: Quad Polaris 330, 400 and 500 cc.
Day 1: «Three bays» of Diego Suarez - Ramena - magnificent wild landscapes (70 km). Their name evokes the change of scenery... French Bay, Sugar Loaf, Bay of Sakalavas, Bay of Pigeons, Bay of Dunes, Cape Miné, Orangea, Ramena... This "tricolor" trek offers a course with infinite color palettes, in all its nuances with its succession of bays and beaches, the white of the sand, sometimes pink, sometimes golden, sometimes blond, and the red of the laterite, when you cross the tracks of Ivovona... We meet at your hotel during breakfast. A briefing on safety and planning the ride. Departure and crossing Diego Suarez in direction of the “White track”. Sakalava Bay and Pigeons Bay. A lunch taken from lunch baskets in the heart of the Dunes’ Bay and we continue towards the numerous military vestiges from the Colonial past - the Miné cape, the lighthouse, cannons, and Orangea beach. Back to Ramena beach, dinner and overnight in comfortable bungalows by the sea. Useful information: very varied tracks with undergrowth passages, panoramic view of the region on the crests of Ramena, bathing at will. Easy level.
Day 2: Pirate Bay and the baobab forest. (65 km). Full breakfast overlooking the lagoon, then departure on quad towards the Ivovona Mangroves and the fishermen village of Ambodivahibé and Ambavarano to arrive on the beautiful sandy beach of Ampondrafeta. Diego is full of legends of all kinds, and the Pirate Bay is one of them. It is said that many treasures have been buried here... you may have the chance to discover them! Swimming and lunch taken from Lunch baskets on the wild, huge and deserted beach of Ampondrafeta and we continue towards the Baobab forest. Exploring Ampondrahazo village and quad-biking to Baobab forest, then continue to the bush village of Andranomena, where you will stop for the night in a charming guesthouse. Dinner at d'hôte Madame Violette's. Useful information: Change of scenery guaranteed thanks to the varied tracks of sand, earth, mangroves and crossings. Meeting with many fishing villages. Average difficulty level.
Day 3: The Red Tsingy and Joffreville (65 km). Full breakfast then departure on quad towards the Red Tsingy. After drive by a beautiful red dirt track and crossing by a river, you will discover this beautiful and fragile place, architectural masterpiece of laterite carved by rain and wind. Then we driving down to Irodo village and crossing the palm valley to the mangroves of Ambolobozo. Lunch taken from Lunch baskets on the track linking the Red Tsingy to Sakaramy, which includes crossings of fords, quagmires and altitude climb... Crossing Sakaramy and exploring the authentic Malagasy lifestyle. Arrival at Joffreville and the Lodge (***) surrounded by vegetation. Dinner and night at the lodge. Useful information: Dry forest tracks and landscapes, crossings, undergrowth, laterites tracks, mangroves, tracks of mud, dirt, and rocks.
Day 4: Montagne d'Ambre National Park, a paradise for rare animals and plants. Breakfast. The day will be devoted to discovery of Montagne d'Ambre. This rainforest with endemic fauna and luxuriant vegetation and its six volcano lakes and three waterfalls, one of which falls from a height of 80 m – is a paradise for rare animals and plants, which occur only here and nowhere else on Earth. The climate is perfect, the cool air refreshes after the heat of the lowlands. Montagne d'Ambre National Park offers various attractions ranging from the visits of its various places of interest to the most demanding hiking. Hiking trails include very nice trips to the big waterfall (grande cascade) with a steepy way back and a very comfortable, easy to walk promenade to the green lake (Lac verte). In theory, the park has 30 km of tracks. Lunch-picnic, dinner and night at the lodge.
Day 5: Joffreville - Baie du Courrier (80 km). Breakfast in a wonderful garden then departure on quad towards the Baie du Courrier. Diversity of landscapes, diversity of tracks, the long road that leads to the Bay of Courier: paddy fields, grassy plains as far as the eye can see, where even the roaring of the quads does not upset the tranquility of zebus. Atmosphere and decoration conducive to meditation... "Who am I among this immensity?" You will cross the plain of Anamakia, known for its delicious mangoes, then cross the Salinière Company of Madagascar and reach Antsahampano. The arrival to Madiro Kitamby, at the end of a rocky and brittle track, is a real blessing: "Ah... well I can stretch my legs, and this beautiful and deserted beach is nothing but for me ..." Lunch-picnic, dinner at Madiro Kitamby (the special seafood and fish) and night in the rustic bungalows along the Mozambique Channel. Useful information: Brittle and rocky track, undergrowth and mangrove passages, small fords. Difficult and technical route.
Day 6: Nosy Hara archipelago Marine National Park. The day will be devoted to the discovery of the Nosy Hara archipelago, a small paradise that nature offers us, and snorkeling and swimming. Full breakfast, lunch, dinner and night at Madiro Kitamby Lodge.
Day 7: Windsor Castle - Cape Diego - Diego Suarez (50 km). Full breakfast with exceptional overlooking the Island Nosy Hara National Marine Park. Swimming and snorkeling. After, we will conquer Windsor Castle, this small fort from colonial times, overhanging a rocky hill 391mts high. The climb is worthy: The view is fabulous because it is the only place in the region where you can see Mozambique Channel (West), Indian Ocean, Diego Suarez (East), and Amber Cape (North) in the same panorama! You will continue to the old military camp of Diego Cape and its old airstrip, very animated and strategic in the old times. Lunch in the cave close to the camp. Back to Diego for an arrival at the end of the afternoon. Goodbye Cocktail at the end of the raid with team.
About accommodation: Guesthouse or Lodge, Double or Twin bed rooms. About meals: Full Board (+Lunch baskets); Beverages: water, juice, tea, coffee during a drive, wine and aperitif during evening (rum, beer).
About safety: We always brief our customers before we go on a ride (A briefing on safety). A technical assistance (a 4×4 car assistance + Quad replacement if needed, guide/mechanic + your personal guide) is coming with you all along the Raid. We strongly recommend wearing a helmet during drive (provided by us). We strongly advise riders to subscribe to an individual insurance more efficient than our local insurance.
