To shift from a classic holiday place to a real ecotourism destination, Majunga focused on promoting new sites and especially Antsanitia. 30km north of Mahajanga are authentic fishing villages on the edge of a huge unspoiled beach. The site allows you to take full advantage of the wilderness area: canoeing, catamaran, the Morira river, discovery of a mangrove inhabited by birds, walks in small forest massifs and their endemic fauna (lemurs, chameleons ...), hiking through the savannah punctuated by majestic "satrana" (palm trees) and crossing villages, traditional fishing or "sportive"... The sea is king there. Add ecotourism to the picture, with the Morira River trip, the river’s mangroves and the discovery of endemic medicinal plants, with the participation of local villagers.

*Take our excursion "Immersion in the country of Sakalava. The Morira river". Guided tour of the lakes, baobabs, the crocodiles and lemurs. This authentic and wild site, in the heart of the "bush", is ideally reachable by the coast;
*Scouting nightlife «Mahajanga by night». Mahajanga is well known for its lively nightlife. A really exciting nightlife that will help you to immerse in the picturesque local customs! (alcohol abuse is dangerous);
*Discovery the Sacred lake of Mangatsa. This sacred lake with transparent waters is the home of some of the biggest goldfish you will ever see. Lake Mangatsa is a sacred place and even politicians come usually here to seek the advice of the ancestors;
*Coastal hiking. Crossing the Morira estuary by motorboat. Visiting the mangrove to reach the natural pool of Ankorokobe. Walking through the forest to the cultures and village of Manaribe (Lemurs). Visit of the swampy plain of Ampombifaly (wild ducks). A shaded picnic on the beach for (a local seafood and drinks), swimming, a relaxation, a nap;
*Charming walk in zebu cart;
*Cruise on a catamaran. Coastal sailing to the fishing village of Sarondrano, with trolling. Visit of the red circus of Ankomany or tour of the lakes to the estuary of the Mahamavo (next to the small fishing village of Ampasimariny if favorable tide). Picnic (local seafood). You can customize this cruise as you wish.
You will enjoy the laidback atmosphere, the adorable locals that have known to keep the authenticity of an ancestral way of life. It is also here that pirogues and large wooden boats are built. Canoes are propelled using paddles; some also deploy a rectangular sail when there are winds. Sakalava are avid fishers, who use outrigger canoes of the same design as those used by proto-Malagasy when they made their voyages across the Indian Ocean.
